Wake by Lisa McMann

I give this book a 4.5 stars.
Description: Not all dreams are sweet.
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can’t tell anybody about what she does — they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant….
Wow, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and how into it I got. I intended just to read a few chapters before heading to bed but I could not put it down. I loved both Janie’s and Cabel’s characters and am hoping we see more of them together in the next book. It was great watching Janie finally being able to get some control over her dream experiences and slowly blossom with the help and support of Cabel. Every once in awhile I was getting a Freddy Kruger flash back (believe me you will know what I mean as you read). I would definitely recommend this to other readers. It will be hard to keep from turning the pages until the end of the book.
