Bloggiesta Wrap Up
June 21st, 2009 by Debbie's World of Books

First off thanks Natasha for hosting Bloggiesta!
Today I was able to put in about 4 hours which isn’t bad considering we were out all day. Yesterday I put in 6 hours for a total of 10 hours of Bloggiesta work. Still have a lot left to do though.
My original to-do list:
- Install Google Analytics-I think this this is working. I used a plug in and will check in again tomorrow to see if there is any change.
- Set up some widgets for what am I currently reading, Twitter, Shelfari, GoodReads, LibraryThing (more to come I’m sure)-Completed
- I think I want a new theme so I have to find one I like-ok, I like the theme I have except it’s only 2 columns and I wanted 3 columns. Anyone know how to convert that?
- I’ve been meaning to put together a more in depth Review Guidelines
- I plan on joining the what are you reading meme so I want to get my first post written up
- Write up my Scholastic Book Sale post-Done
- Work on some interview questions for upcoming blog tours
- See if I can find a calendar widget or something to post my book tour dates
- Update my status on all my challenges-Completed
- Participate in the Bloggiesta mini-challenges
- Mini-challenge Favicons and Gravatars at Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin? Completed
- Mini-challenge Clean Up Your Feed Reader at The Book Lady’s Blog Completed
- Mini-challenge Blogging Buddies at My Friend Amy Completed
- Mini-challenge Anchors Away at GalleySmith Completed
- Mini-challenge Rainy Day post at Beth Fish Reads Completed
- Mini-challenge Blog directories at Chronicles of an Infant Bibliophile Completed
- Mini-challenge Grade your blog at Bookish Ruth Completed
- Just remembered I need to go update my blog url at Book Blogs, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Tecnorati, GoogleReader and who knows where else?-Completed except on Technorati. Keeps giving me an invalid URL error msg even though my url is correct. Any suggestions?
What else did I do?
- Followed #bloggiesta on Twitter
- Commented on other bloggiesta postings
- Wrote my In My Mailbox posting
- Wrote my challenges update posting for July 1
- Wrote a few posts scheduled to post through out the week
- I’m officially saying right now my Google Reader is empty. Granted every time I go back it seems to refresh with new postings but I did technically reach no unread posts. Woo hoo!
- Installed the All in One SEO plugin for WordPress-not exactly sure what it is doing but I know there is all the buzz about SEO and it was one of the popular plugins
Yes, call me a follower. - Installed the Sociable plugin
Need help: I noticed my new blog is showing up as Untitled by default when adding to Google Reader. Any idea why? My free WordPress blog showed my blog name automatically.

Congratulations on all your hard work.
I know how to do 3 columns with Blogger, but I’m not sure for other domains.
I think everyone has had problems with Technorati, myself included.
I hope you enjoyed Bloggiesta, I did.

You’ve done a LOT of things in only 10 hours! Congrats! I thought the event was really fun, and it really helped me to clean up some stuff on my blog too!

Thanks Kay! It was a lot of fun.

Thanks Amy! Is the process something that looks like its custom for each blogging service? That is too bad about Technorati. Maybe all the bloggiesta participants overloaded them

I am out and about this morning visiting Bloggiesta participants and seeing what they did with the challenge. I have a three column blog (which I really like). I use wordpress and the three column choices are limited but there are a few.
Hope you enjoyed the challenge! I really did and I learned a lot!

You have accomplished so much! Your blog looks great by the way. I only know how to do three-columns on Blogger, and only because I looked up a tutorial first. I wish I could be of more help!

Thanks everyone!
Sheila-yeah, I was surfing around trying to find a 3 column one I liked but couldn’t find one. So now I’m hoping to be able to modify this one to be a 3 colun.
Ashley-I’ve been trying to find a WordPress tutorial but so far no luck.

Wow, you’ve been busy!
About Technorati, that happened to me too, not quite the same problem, but something similar. It kept saying it couldn’t find the claim code on my blog, only I was in the step where it was supposed to GIVE me the claim code. I gave up on it, then went back a week later, and everything went fine. So I think it gets overloaded sometimes. Just keep trying!

You did fabulous! A lot of accomplishments there. Congratulations
Bloggiesta was such a great event but so much went on at the same time that I know I missed quite a bit. As you can see….since I’m still trying to catch up on posting to my feeds.
Here’s to hoping we keep the momentum and continue with the improvements!

I think the one nice thing about book blogs is there is always something new to try or to add. It keeps things interesting.

I’m super late in stopping by and saying thank you so much for participating in Bloggiesta! I know how to add another sidebar so if you’d like to email me you can contact me through my blog and I’d be happy to help!
