Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Thanks so much to Trish at Hey Lady Whatcha Reading for lending me her copy. I can’t wait to go buy my own copy.
4.5 out of 5 stars
Description: Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
I loved The Hunger Games and could not wait to see what happened in Catching Fire. I was a little worried that after seeing all the hype by people’s reviews that I would be disappointed but I still loved it. In fact, I read the entire thing in one sitting. After The Hunger Games I was leaning slightly to Team Gale (thanks to Michelle at GalleySmith for the icon!) even though we didn’t get to see him much. I was hoping for more during Catching Fire and my one disappointment was probably not seeing more of him again.
The story was again a great one. Katniss and Peeta yet again find themselves having to deal with the fall out of the Hunger Games and the actions they took at the end of it. Katniss did not realize that her actions may have contributed to the rebellions popping up in the districts & has become a symbol of that rebellion. The Capitol’s reaction will shock the reader and have you sitting at the edge of your seat. There were a few things I didn’t get how they happened but am hoping that is cleared up in the next book as you are again left hanging. When is the next book coming out? LOL. I wish I could write more but I don’t want to give away the surprises.

I have only one word to describe my state right now : jealous!
The book is coming out the same day I go back to university… it will be really hard that day to keep my priorities straight!

Ahh I’m so jealous. I can’t wait to read this. I hope there is a lot more Gale in it.

Isn’t Trish the greatest? She lent me her copy of FIRE by Cashore!
I have this book coming to me in the mail, but it probably will be out before it arrives. That’s okay, though.
