Who Would You Pick? True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris Edition
I wanted to have some fun a few weeks ago so I started this little series of Who Would You Pick?
I just started noticing lately that a lot of the books I’m reading involve love triangles and quite a number of them aren’t clearly black or white on who the heroine should choose. Both guys all have their good points and are not totally bad. So how about a series of who would you pick if you had the two guys fighting over YOU and why? This week’s pick is the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.
I know the season of True Blood is over but to keep the buzz going who would you pick for yourself? And have you read the books, watched the tv show or both? I have to admit I’ve only seen 2 episodes of True Blood from season 1 so all my opinions are based on the books. I’ve read all of the ones currently released.
Eric vs. Bill vs. Quinn vs. Alcide vs. Sam
As far as I know Alcide & Quinn haven’t been cast in True Blood
Wow, I knew I complained about how Sookie got around in the books but until I just listed the guys to choose from it really hit me. Right off the bat I will tell you I’m not a big Alcide or Quinn fan. Sam and Bill are ok but I love Eric! So Team Eric here! Who would you pick?
- Of course all the guys are supposed to be smoking hot
- Eric, Bill and Alcide are all pretty darn rich although I believe either Alcide or Eric is the richest
- Quinn or Sam could probably come closest to giving Sookie a normal life
- Quinn does have family issues that come along as huge baggage
- Alcide has a crazy ex-girlfriend to deal with
- Bill had the whole kind of raping Sookie thing going
- Eric is the sheriff of the area and pretty darn powerful vampire
- Both Bill and Eric are sexy vampires that want to protect the women they care for
- Eric is so cocky it would get on my nerves sometimes
- If you have a relationship with either vampire you will have that whole pesky iron deficiency issue if they keep drinking your blood
- Would you really want to date a werewolf or a collie for that matter?
I could go on and on but for me I think deep down Eric really is a good guy, is super sexy and show you a good time. Hmmm, now that I describe it maybe I’d want to date Eric but marry Sam or Bill?

I have always had a thing for Alcide. I can’t wait to see him in the next season. I’m torn between Eric and Alcide.

I haven’t read the books yet, but based on the TV show, I’m Team Eric! Although I do like Bill and Sam, too.
Now, I really need to pick the books from under the huge pile in the corner *sigh*

I’m so team Eric for this one. There’s just something about him (both in the books and the show).
I liked Bill but always felt there was something off there.
Alicide… he always seemed like a temporary person. The connection never seemed as strong.
Quinn, I have to admit it took me a minute to figure out who Quinn was. So obviously he didn’t make that much of an impression on me.
I think Sookie just gets herself into trouble with the men because of what she is. Non humans are just drawn to her and she to them.

I haven’t read all of the characters you’re comparing and contrasting but I think you already know my response to this. I’m Team Eric all.the.way.
He’s bringin’ sexy back from the dark ages baby. In a big gorgeous hottie way.
The chemistry between he and Sookie is so much more smoldering than boring Bill. He’s witty, charming, a bit of a bad boy with a heart of gold. All the elements that suck me in (get it? *suck* me in. haha)for a guy.
There isn’t any comparison in my book.

I only read the first book, but when Bill basically raped Sookie in the graveyard, that killed it for me. I’d kind of like to see her and Sam have a go … but without having read the rest of the books or seen the series, it’s hard to say.

Alcide’s whole ex-girlfriend thing was a little freaky for me and yeah, the Bill/rape thing is what totally turned me off.
J. Kaye-I can’t remember in the books when he turned up but I think it was in the first few so I think he may show up in True Blood soon.

Well, I have read all the books and have not watched one True Blood episode. Based on the books, Eric would have to be my final choice. I say that knowing that I liked Bill far into the series. The other choices, no way most especially Quinn.
Okay, it has been a long time since I read the books. What rape/bill thing are you referring to? I am not remembering Bill raping Sookie. My memory tells me that she has always been a very willing participant. Oh wait, are we talking in back in book 2 (I think) when he was rescued, totally blood deprived and so not himself? I think it was in the trunk of the car or something.

How fun! I just started following you and this is a pretty neat thing.
I would have to say that I would pick Sam. I can’t explain it. Maybe it’s the way he’s all for Sookie, but plays the friend because that’s what she needs.

Actually Debbie I was refering to what she discovers as her heritage later on through her great grandfather (I want to say it was in book 7?) Don’t want to give it away for those who haven’t read that far. But, I know it’s explained as to why vampires in particular are so drawn to her.
Knowing that made me hate in the show when Mary Anne kept asking “what are you”. I think everyone thought something about Sookie was different, but it was never so blatantly pointed out like that.

I am Team Eric all the way!! He’s hot and naughty. After what Bill did, I’m not liking him at all. Sam would be a runner up, then Alcide. Reading the books, I’ve pictured Quinn looking like Mr. Clean.

I forgot to add…
I’ve read all the Sookie books and watched both seasons of True Blood. I enjoyed both. I’m glad about the MaryAnn part (in the season finale). I won’t go into details just in case some people haven’t watched it yet.

I have to go with Alcide I think he got the short end of the Sookie stick, she could have some normalcy with him and he is not her best friend / boss.

Team Eric all the way……he became attracted to Sookie not because he was “ordered”, he is sexy, strong, sexual and looks after her- even helping out with her home…. Bill had his points but really stuffed it up and Alcide is my close second to Eric. Quinn, not even.
