Blogger Holiday Interviews: Michelle from GalleySmith

I thought as a part of my holiday celebration it would be fun to interview some of my favorite bloggers. This week Michelle from GalleySmith was kind enough to answer a few questions. Be sure to go check out her wonderful blog!
Q: What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?
A: Family! I live with my sister and my brother and niece live about a mile
away but my parents are still in Florida (where I moved back from about 2
yrs ago). Christmas is the one time a year where we are all in the same
place at the same time and I love it. It’s absolutely my most favorite thing
of any season.
Q: Do you have a favorite holiday book?
A: This is probably going to surprise people but I don’t. I’m sure I loved
Night Before Christmas when I was a child but it’s been so long since I read
a book that related to a specific season I’d be hard pressed to offer one up
as a favorite.
Q: Do you plan on making any New Year’s resolutions regarding your blog or blogging/reading in general for 2010?
A: On ho! I’m wicked superstitious and if I didn’t make that goal I’d feel
jinxed or hexed, lol. I will say that I’m a goal-oriented person year round
so I try to keep them infused in my blogging/reading life throughout as
compared to the one grand list at the beginning. What do I want to do this year? Continue to strive to make my blog a unique
experience for my readers, help put together a kick-ass book blogger
convention around BEA time, and just have fun with all the great friends
I’ve made as a result of this fabulous hobby. I also had a great time
presenting at the Kidlitosphere Conference, I wouldn’t mind doing more of
that in the blogging community. Reading wise, I want to try and expand my
reading to include more back list titles and books that don’t necessarily
fall into the rush of instant “popularity”. I’d like to expose readers to
great books that may have been overlooked.
Q: If you could get any book (released or not released) or bookish item for Christmas what would it be?
A: Oh wow, this is a tough question. UGH
Ummm, I’m not super picky I like all bookish related things. I’d love for a
copy of the third book of the Hunger Games trilogy to magically appear in my
stocking but I have a feeling that ain’t gonna happen. Hahahaha
Q: What has been your favorite book of 2009?
A: I can’t play absolute favorites but I’ll happily provide a list of
recommendations: Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Hate List, Candor, Hush Hush,
Food Girls and Other Things I Can’t Have. I also just read The Maze Runner
which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Q: What book would you give everyone if you had an endless number of copies and why?
A: This will shock everyone I’m sure but I’d give everyone I know The Hunger
Games because it’s just that good. It totally changed my view on the entire
YA genre. I’d also gladly give away Hate List by Jennifer Brown — it was a
phenomenal read about a real life issue. So well written and compelling.
Q: Anything you would like to tell the readers of this interview?
A: Get involved! Book bloggers are a great group of people whom I am happy
to call my friends. Join in challenges, hop on Twitter to start/join
conversations, and just have fun.
Thank you so much again Michelle for joining us here. Have a wonderful holiday season!
