Who Would You Pick? Vampire Showdown Edition
I wanted to have some fun awhile back so I started this little series of Who Would You Pick?
Originally I started noticing that a lot of the books I was reading involved love triangles and quite a number of them aren’t clearly black or white on who the heroine should choose. Both guys all have their good points and are not totally bad. So how about a series of who would you pick if you had the two guys fighting over YOU and why?
I decided this post to open it up to vampires across the books. I know there are a ton of different vampire hotties out there since vampires are the hot thing now but here are a few of my favorite vampires. Which one would you pick as your boyfriend, husband, lover? Or convince me that there is another vampire guy out there I just have to check out.
The showdown between:
- Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris
- Edward from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
- Dmitri from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
- Damon from Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith
So many great vampire guys out there how do you choose? Some of the reasons I chose the ones I did are I love the bad guys who really have a hidden good heart like Eric and Damon. It’s just so sexy and touching that when they truly love someone they can be sweet despite trying to maintain their arrogant attitude. Edward is on here just because when I first read the book (before the movie came out and Robert Pattinson ruined my mental image of Edward) I thought he sounded totally hot and sweet although a tad too brooding.
Out of all of these vampires I would choose Dmitri as my other half. He has that enigmatic Russian aloofness, total hotness and he can totally kick butt. I have faith even though he was turned into a Strigoi his love can overcome any obstacle and he will stay true to the one he loves.
Who would be your pick and why?

- True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris
- Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz

- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- The Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith

Hands down my pick would be Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse series. I cannot help but love his arrogance and the fact that deep down he is good. He is my literary crush along with Jane Austen’s Captain Wentworth.

Edward! I never have to think about an answer to this question

LOL Guess I’m old fashioned, as I would still pick Bram Stoker’s original Dracula.

It would be a close tie between Damon and Eric. I have only read one Vampire Academy book so far, so I don’t know much about Dmitri and Edward is just too perfect/plastic for my tastes.

Oh I am definitely a fan of Eric! I’ve read all of the others that you mention and none of them even hold a candle to him. There’s just something about him…maybe the mystery of it all??? Or maybe that under that hard shell he’s so wonderful to Sookie? Who knows. Just have to love him.

Hmm…I’d say it’d be a toss up between Eric and Damon…probably leaning towards Damon. I’m actually not the hugest fan of the Vampire Diaries books (I thought they were ok, but wasn’t in love with them), but the character of Damon is what kept me reading.
Another great vampire guy is Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost!

Tough call between Eric and Dimitri.. but since Dimitri is currently EVIL, I’ll go with Eric. The arrogance would be annoying, but he’s got a good sense of humor. Not to mention the centuries of practicing his kissing skills ;o)

If I had to pick between those listed- Eric hands down. But have you read JR Ward’s “Black Dagger Brotherhood”? Now those guys are proven guy guys but when it comes to their lovers and family- complete marshmallows. They are proven hubbies and fathers. Wrathe’s my overall pick. And Edward, he may have been around for awhile, and what can you say he knows how to treat a woman- yeah if you want to be with someone who is forever 17.

Love this question, it’s right up my alley! It’s a toss up between Eric and Damon for me too. Love them both (and bravo to the casting director of the Vampire Diaries series on the CW on picking a perfect Damon)! I’ve only read one Vampire Academy book so far so I don’t know much about Dmitri. I wouldn’t pick Edward for the same reason I wouldn’t pick Stefan from the Vampire Diaries – too brooding!
I’ve been meaning to try the Jeaniene Frost books…

I would pick Damon but it would be the Damon from the tv show and not the Damon from the books.
I haven’t read The Vampire Academy yet and I’ve only watched Trueblood so the decision isn’t that well-informed for me. But it definitely wouldn’t be Edward.

Damon. He is smokin’ hot in the TV series… And I like Eric and I like Edward.
Damon the best, though.

LOL. I love Eric but yeah, that arrogance could get irritating.
Lisa-I’ve only read one BDB book, the one about Zsadist and I really didn’t like him. So I haven’t tried any other BDB books yet.

None of the above! Lestat is my vamp! LOL

Now THAT’S a brilliant answer, he’s mine too! I wasn’t thinking outside the box.

One of these days I’m going to have to give the Anne Rice books another chance. I started Interview With a Vampire but didn’t get into it. Of course that was years and years ago
March 25th, 2010 at 9:06 am
The Vampire Chronicles are some of my favorite books of all time! Anne Rice was hands down my favorite writer from age 14 all through college. I used to re-read at least the first three once a year.
Although, I always skipped over Interview (the only one told from Louis’ point of view). I recommend starting with The Vampire Lestat and see how you like it.

Thanks Jamye! I will try that one instead.

I’m curious to see what you think! I used to be absolutely obsessed with them. And my favorite was always changing, although most of the time it was Queen of the Damned or Tale of the Body Thief. It’s funny how I would pick up on different themes as I re-read them through the years too.

I always like to check out books people said they have re-read over and over. That usually means it had to have been really good

UGH, I’m so late to the party on this and it’s a good one!
I don’t know two of the four listed but egads Eric vs. Damon. There is too much hotness to choose between. They both have the bad boy thing going on which I truly love! I do think that Damon has a bit more of an edge to him though. Kind of a no turning back scenario where he could be really bad and not in a good way.
Still….tough choice.

lol. I know, how to choose right?
