2011 Challenges
Ok, I said I wasn’t going to sign up for challenges since I usually fail dismally but I couldn’t resist. These overlap and fit in with some of my planned reading so hopefully I’ll complete them.
The Story Siren has opened up sign ups for her 2011 Debut Author Challenge. I’ve pretty much given up on challenges but since I know there are a bunch of 2011 debut authors I want to read I decided this will be the one I sign up for. These are the books I know I want to read:
-
XVI by Julia Karr Puffin/Speak, January 6, 2011
-
Memento Nora by Angie Smibert Marshall Cavendish, April 15, 2011
-
Hereafter by Tara Hudson HarperCollins, June 7, 2011
-
The Mephisto Covenant by Trinity Faegen, Egmont USA, Fall 2011
-
POSSESSby Gretchen McNeil, Balzer + Bray, Fall 2011
-
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand, HarperTeen, January 2011-Done. Review posted here.
-
The False Princess by Eilis O’Neal, Egmont, January 2011
-
Across the Universeby Beth Revis, Razorbill, January 2011-Done. Review posted here.
-
Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton, Katherine Tegen Books, February 2011
-
A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford, Greenwillow, February 2011
-
Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton, Simon & Schuster, February 2011
-
Human .4 by Mike Lancaster, Egmont
I just got a Nook for Christmas and have a bunch of books already loaded so I signed up for the E-book challenge hosted by The Ladybug Reads. I am aiming for the Obsessed level by reading 20 ebooks.
Challenge Guidelines:
1. Anyone can join. You don’t need a blog to participate.
–Non-bloggers: Include your information in the comment section.
2. There are four levels:
– Curious – Read 3 e-books.
– Fascinated – Read 6 e-books.
– Addicted – Read 12 e-books.
– Obsessed – Read 20 e-books.
3. Any genre counts.
4. You can list your books in advance or just put them in a wrap-up post. If you list them, feel free to change them as the mood takes you.
5. Challenge begins January 1, 2011 and lasts until December 31, 2011.
I plan on aiming for the Contagion (15 books) level
Challenge Levels
- Asocial– Choose 5 books to read
- Contagion – Choose 15 books to read
- Soldier – Choose 30 books to read
- Drone – Choose 50 books to read
- Conditioned – Choose 75 books to read
For extra hard challenges
- Brainwashed – Choose 76-125 books to read
- Totalitarian – Choose 126-200 books to read
The Dystopia Challenge starts one minute past midnight, 1st of January 2011 and end the 31st of December 2011.
- Challenge runs from January 1 – December 31, 2011.
- Read books from your own shelves, and then pass the books on to someone else: a friend, relative, the library, used book store, swap them, just as long as the book leaves your house once it has been read.
- Decide on your goal (12 is the minimum – no maximum). Cross over books are allowed.
- Grab the button and do a post about the challenge.
- Keep a running list of the books you’ve read and passed on.
- Leave a comment with a link to your post and you are entered (no Mr. Linky).
All right. Adding on one more challenge here. The Persons of Color Challenge. I’m aiming for level one.

Level 1: Read 1-3 POC books
Level 2. Read 4-6 POC books
Level 3. Read 7-9 POC books
Level 4. Read 10-15 POC books
Level 5. Read 16-25 POC books

These are great challenges! I suspect I’ll be doing the e-reader challenge by default even though I didn’t join, haha. In fact, my current read is on my Nook.
Good luck.

I love these challenges. I am also doing te 2011 YA Debut Author challenge and the e-book challenge. E-book one should be a stroll in the park since I read practically everything on my Kindle now. I would have loved to do the Dystopia challenge but I have already overcommitted, I think, with the 5 I signed up for. LOL!!

Thank you for signing up for the poc reading challenge!! (and of course, thank you so much for The Latte Rebellion). By the way, you could use Possess as a book for the DAC and the POC challenge
I just go an e-reader so I don’t think I’m ready for an ebook challenge just yet but it’s a good idea. And I’m participaitng in the Off the Shelf reading challenge, I have so many books that I’ve owned for awhile that I have yet to read.

No problem! Glad to help out. I didn’t realize I could use Possess for both challenges. I love when a book satisfies multiple challenges
